Notice for 2015 Winter Vacation

Dear International Students,
According to University calendar, the winter vacation for the fall semester of academic year 2014-2015 is from January 24 to February 27, 2015. Hereby notify the related issues as follows:
1. Student who is in need of applying for residence permit for the first time shall prepare all documents ready and go to the Entry and Exit Administration at least 10 days prior to the expiry date of the visa (from the date of entry in China). Student who is in need of extending the residence permit shall prepare all documents ready and go to the Entry and Exit Administration at least 30 days prior to the expiry date of the residence permit. For stamping of the University’s Letter to the Administration, please make an appointment with Tony Tang (15871635301, January 26 to 30 and February 9 to 10) or Cindy Jia (13487219209, February 2 to 6 and February 11 to 13) in advance.
Important Note: From February 18 to 24 is the Spring Festival Holiday. Student who is supposed to apply for residence permit or extend residence permit during this period shall apply in advance.
2. All international students are required to register at the college on February 28, 2015 with their student card.
3. Students shall abide by government and university rules and regulations and be aware of your personal and property security during the vacation. In case of emergency, please inform your student counselor immediately.
4. Student who is going to leave the campus for travel during the vacation shall send a text message (destination, duration, means of transportation shall be provided) to the student counselor of the college.
5. Food supply: Nanyuan Student Canteen (opposite to the International Students’ Dorm) will be opened during the vacation.
6. Opening Hours for University Library: 9:00 a.m. to 17:00 p.m., January 24 to 30.
7. Special Arrangements of the Sports Facilities for International Students: The Comprehensive Training Center will be opened for international students during the vacation, for detailed information, please refer to the specific notice.
8. Activities during the vacation:
1) Articles Contest Ⅰ – My Hubei Story.
2) Articles Contest Ⅱ– My Yichang Story.
3) The 9th Temple Fair of Xiling District (January 23 - 25).

Special Arrangements of the Sports Facilities
for International Students
Opening hours: 9:30 a.m. to 17:30 p.m., January 27 to February 23.
(10:00 a.m. to 17:30 p.m. for February 18 to 24)
Location: Comprehensive Training Center (the building next to the Gymnasium)
Opening areas: Ping-Pong Ball Hall (1st floor), Badminton Hall (2nd floor), Fitness Equipment (3rd floor), Basketball Hall (4th floor).
Related requirements:
1. International students shall register with the passport and/or student card at the 2nd-floor duty room of the Comprehensive Training Center.
2. Students using the facilities shall abide by related regulations and follow the management of the administrator.
3. Students shall use the facilities properly. Compensation is compulsory in case of any damage.
4. Do not smoke, spit, litter or eat food in the Center. Students with such actions are not welcome to enter the Center again.
5. Students shall keep their own valuables properly. The Center takes no responsibility for personal belongings.
6. Students shall take full responsibility for their safety while using the sports facilities.

An articles contest under the title of “My Hubei Story” will be held by the Editorial Office of the Official Website of Hubei Provincial People’s Government and School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Wuhan University from September 2014 to September 2015. Hereby notify the related issues as follows:
Ⅰ. Requirements for the Articles
1. The articles should be written with the theme of “My Hubei Story” in English or French. The overall content shall be positive. Various genres are welcomed, excluding novel and drama.
2. All foreigners in Hubei Province are welcomed to participate in this activity. You can write down the real and unique stories during your study, work and living here with no more than 1500 words to show the development and changes of Hubei’s economy and society and the life and mental outlook of Hubei People. One or two pictures in related to your story could also be provided.
3. The articles should be unpublished original works. If discovered plagiarism or publicated articles, qualification for awards will be cancelled. Articles solicited and cited in other contest shall not be submitted either.
4. Screening and evaluation will be organized by the Editorial Office of the Official Website of Hubei Provincial People’s Government.
Ⅱ. Rewards
Three First Prize with a bonus of RMB 2000 Yuan each.
Five Second Prize with a bonus of RMB 1000 Yuan each.
Ten Third Prize with a bonus of RMB 500 Yuan each.

Announcement of Yichang Municipal Public Security Bureau
on the Banning of Setting off Fireworks and Firecrackers in Urban Area of Yichang City

In order to strengthen the management of setting off fireworks and firecrackers in Urban Area of Yichang City, effectively avoid noise and air pollution, and protect the public security and people’s health, according to Rules of Banning of Setting off Fireworks and Firecrackers in Urban Area of Yichang City (Municipal Government Decree No. 163), setting off fireworks and firecrackers in Urban Area of Yichang City is completely banned from January 1st, 2015. Hereby announce the related maters as follows:
1. Zones Banning Setting off Fireworks and Firecrackers in Urban Area (hereinafter to be referred as “Restricted Zones” ):
(1) Wujia District, Xiling District, Yiling District: the entrance of Bolin river, Yanhe Road, Gongyi Road (No. 1), Dongzhan Road, Yiwan Railway, Hanyi Highway, Dalian Road, Beihai Road, Fazhan Avenue, Yixing Road, Caijiahe Bridge, Songhu Road, Longtai Road, Jinjiang Avenue, Wangjiang Road, Ganghong Road, Xiazigou Roundabout, entrance of Huangbo River and areas surrounded by Yangtze River water. (2) Dianjun District: areas (villages and communities) passed by Jiangnan Avenue, Wulong Road, Dianjun Avenue, Jiangcheng Avenue, Wulong Road (No. 3) and Jiangjun Road, and the area (villages or communities) in which the People’s Government of Town is located. (3) Xiaoting District: areas administered by Gulaobei Sub-district Office, Huya Sub-district Office (except Gaijia village and Gaohu Village) and Yunchi Sub-district Office (except Fushanchang Village) .
2. In the “Restricted Zones”, the storage, selling and setting off of fireworks and firecrackers are banned at anytime all the year around. A 1000-meter-wide transition zone is set outside the border of the “Restricted Zones”. Within the transition zone, the selling or storage of fireworks and firecrackers are banned.
3. Setting off fireworks and firecrackers is also banned in the following places outside the “Restricted Zones”: (1) Office areas of the Party and government organs. (2) Public places such as station, dock, airport, theater, library, etc.. (3) Cultural relics protection sites; important military installations; important facilities related to oil supply, gas supply, electricity supply, etc.; safety protection zone for the railway line; and other key fire protection units. (4) Places storing inflammables and explosives. (5) Kindergarten, nursery, hospital, sanatorium, gerocomium, funeral parlour (crematorium), and places related to teaching, research and production, etc.. (6) Residence community in which setting off fireworks and firecrackers is banned based on the discussion of the house-owners meeting.
4. People who set off fireworks and firecrackers in the “Restricted Zones” or set off fireworks and firecrackers in the way of endangering public security or personal and property safety will be ordered to stop setting off fireworks and firecrackers, the fireworks and firecrackers will be confiscated according to related laws and regulations, and the regulation-breaker will be fined RMB 100 to 500 yuan in accordance with the seriousness of the case. For those whose acts violating the public security administration and shall be detained will be detained by the public security organ according to law. If the circumstances are serious enough to constitute a crime, the law-breakers shall be prosecuted for criminal responsibility according to law.
